The book "Dear Artist, Everyone’s Your Friend," self-published by Houston native and multidisciplinary artist Edwards Marrshun Preston in paperback, was officially released on Amazon in June 2023. It is now available for order online to artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs.

Marrshun, a musician, author, architect, and well-rounded artist and entertainer, known as Marrshun, is passionate about his timeless creativity. While experiencing moments of isolation—a true test of one's animated spirit when the world

shut down in January 2020 due to the COVID pandemic—Preston self-published "Dear Artist, Everyone’s Your Friend" in June 2023.

He also released his music project "Melanin" on September 9, 2023, with "Eight Figures" as the first single, surpassing ten thousand views, a record since July 2023.

This collection of music and art stems from Marrshun's upbringing as a unique child with a natural ability to entertain. "Melanin" holds a deep meaning as a tribute to his self-identity, cultural heritage, and spirit of creativity. From a young age, Marrshun knew he had "IT." In a recent interview, he shared insights into the start of his journey.

"What sets me apart is..[being who YOU are, through and through]. Always be yourself, be an artist, and be the BEST at it," said Marrshun.

His early obsessions began with Legos, reading, writing, drawing, and eventually singing on microphones at family events. At the age of 14, he started performing at open mic nights everywhere he could, including the streets of 5th Ward, Houston.

In 2011, he relocated to NYC, where he hustled to appear on every television set possible, including shows like the Steve Wilkos show, Mel Robins show, Murray show, and Jerry Springer, both as an extra and a producer's assistant.

from not being able to secure a record deal and working in the television industry. I questioned who was working, who my friends were, and my grandfather's passing, the patriarch of the family. I needed solace. My good friend Edward Lewis (EL) from O studio encouraged me to finish. I did it for the people, for artists, and for left-brain thinkers," said Marrshun.

Marrshun continued, "I always wanted to be an author because people constantly asked how I managed to blend every genre in music and art. You have to remember that you have gifts to give away."

The official book signing for "Dear Artist, Everyone’s Your Friend" will be held at the historically black university, Texas Southern University, on October 31st.

The multidisciplinary artist will also release another book and a handful of creative ideas in collaboration with RichKid & Company.
